Primary Care Trust (PCT) level data were attached to the Postcode Address File linking on PCT of residence for each postcode. This allowed a population weighted value to be created for each Local Authority District (LAD). PCT boundaries are as at 2002.
For ethnic estimation, an LA level weighting function was created to model uptake for individuals in ethnic groups within Local Authorities.

Additional details
Vaccination statistics are published for each Primary Care Trust (PCT) responsible for vaccination provision. The percentage of children immunised against Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio (DTP, primary and booster), MMR (first and second dose) and Meningitis C by their fifth birthday was used to calculate an effective vaccination measure. Figures for pertussis (whooping cough) and Hib (haemophilus influenzae b) were not included due to the small amount of variation in the data.
Grouped PCT data was substituted where individual PCT data was unavailable as detailed below:

Missing value analysis with regression was carried out to estimate missing parameters (<1% total) and estimates were adjusted using the residuals.
Data were attached to the Postcode Address File linking on PCT of residence for each postcode. This allowed a population weighted value to be created for each uptake figure which could then be attributed to each Local Authority District.
Factor analysis was carried out showing a high level of correlation between the variables. Standardised values (z scores) were created and combined to give an overall score.
For ethnic estimation, an LA level weighting function was created to model uptake for individuals in ethnic groups within Local Authorities.
