Additional details
The indicator for 65 plus nursing/residential places was not available for all three time periods. For this reason the CSCI indicator for all adult care places is being used instead for 2003 and 2006. However, it has not been possible to identify an equivalent indicator for 2001 which produced comparable figures. For this reason the 2003 figures are being used for 2001.
Numbers of places had not been broken down for the lower tier of two-tear local authorities, so it was necessary to allocate numbers using population weighting.
The crude rate has been produced by dividing the number of places by the adult population, and it has not been possible to adjust for variations in the age structure. This indicator is in a state of development, however, and a more sophisticated version may be available in future.
